Mid Winter Blues?

I was reminded recently that I haven't updated this blog in a while. Yes, it's true. With holidays, then who knows what, life has been busy and I've sort of forgotten. We had a nice holiday season and continued through early 2009. Bubba had to have surgery on his knee, and that was an ordeal, more for his owners than him. I just brought him to his 8-week checkup today and the knee looks great and fully functional! Bad news is that his other knee is now a "grade II". Meaning, he'll probably have to have surgery to correct that one, and the sooner the better to stave off any arthritis or ligament damage. Wow, who knew being a dog owner could be so expensive, and for a mutt!

Chris and I are counting the days until we leave for Italy--18 from today! We're going on a tour to the main cities, and we couldn't be more excited. Thank goodness for vacation--definitely helps us get up everyday!

I guess that's all. Chris made Beef Wellington for Valentine's Day--it was delicious. He said, "I've never made a recipe with so many recipes!" I am a lucky wife! I've been trying to work on scrapbooking to keep up because I know I'll have another whole album to do when I return from Italy. And it sure is a stress reliever!

Thanksgiving

Chris and I celebrated Thanksgiving with both families. Good thing we both love turkey! Holidays can be such a fun time to get together with family, but there sure isn't a lot of relaxing involved! We travelled to Superior, then to Foley, then went hunting, and back to Savage. By the time we got home, we collaped into bed, and started a very busy week of work, catching up from the previous short week. The above picture is Chris's whole family--he has 5 siblings, and we have 9 nieces and nephews!

Halloween

As always, Chris and I dressed up to celebrate Halloween! We handed out candy to the kids who came by. As you can see, Bubba got dressed up too and thought every kid who rang the doorbell was here to visit him! He just sat by the door waiting and wimpering all night long. Chris and I went to a couple parties, and enjoyed the festivities.

Fall Camping

Chris and I went camping last weekend at Wild River State Park in Minnesota. It was absolutely beautiful weather--got warm and sunny during the day and nice and cool in the evening--perfect for a bonfire! We did two geocaches and relaxed with our friends Megan and Ed. The leaves are starting to change--autumn is our very favorite time of year!

Bubba

Here's our four-legged, furry friend!

More about my family

I would like to introduce you to the rest of my family. I married my love Chris on Nov 11, 2006. We bought a house and moved to Savage that same year. Chris and I love to hang out with friends, enjoy the outdoors, and relax together. This past spring, we added a new member to our family, a 4-legged hilarious puppy we named Bubba. He is finally getting the house training at 9 months old and is forever making us laugh.

First Time

Hello to the blogging community! This is my first time blogging and I'm pretty excited. This is actually a class assignment, but something I have wanted to do on my own anyway. The exposure that I've had to blogging has been only viewing blogs that people have sent my way, such as new babies or new houses. So I start my journey blogging.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Katie. I was born in Duluth, Minnesota and was raised in the beautiful Twin Ports of Superior/Duluth. I spent much of my childhood up at the cabin in Northern Minnesota in the BWCAW, which is closest to heaven on earth as I have found so far. My parents and brother still live up there in Superior. My mother is a special education teacher at a high school in Duluth and my father is an attorney in Superior. My brother attends Superior High School as a junior and is on the JV soccer team. He is also a saxophone and bassoon player in the band. He likes taking German class and has had a couple German exchange students the past few years. He hopes to travel to Germany this summer!

I have posted a picture of my family above.
